journalists as the fourth estate of the realm therefor require special attention and more intensive training in the use and benefits of ICT for their work in national development' he said.
Mr. Ahiabenu was speaking at the opening of a three day ICT workshop for about 40 journalists in accra on wenesday.
It was organized by the International Institute of ICT Journalism ( penplusbyte) and sponsored by the French Embassy.
the workshop is aimed at building the capacity of journalists in the use of new media technology to improve the quality of journalism and also to enable them understand ICT issues more appropriately.
Mr Ahiabenu said information technology knowledge and sharing is a vital tool for the achivement of the minlenium development goals and the workshop will creat the platform for the journalists to share more ideas.

she siad media houses had a priority to train journalists in ICT but lack of funds had impeded the effort.
the GJA president said a well equiped modern newsroom made it easier for work and in that direction journalist needed the expertice to be able to explain ICT issues to the public.
the the french ambassador Mr. Pierre Jacquemot urged participants to take advantage of the new order to explore since ICT had become a powerful tool for change.
